8/19 Weekly Update

Our first week was great and we are looking forward to another fantastic week.  Math classes started today.  

This Thursday is picture day so have your kiddo dressed and looking good.  Thursday is also Back to School night. We have A LOT of information to share. There are two sessions starting at 5:00 pm. Mr. Muma will also be speaking in the gym.

8/12 Weekly Update

This year we are doing a lot of work around communication and conversation.  Our term for this is discourse.  Tonight please ask your child what they learned about fifth grade today.  We are also asking the kids to get a 'password'/'secret word' from you. The secret word is LUNCH!  

Each fifth grader will have a homework planner.  The expectation is for the parent/guardian to initial the homework page each night.  Our goal is to have your fifth grader ready for Middle School.  It is their responsibility to write down assignments and have their homework completed. The initial is one added piece to help them be accountable and establish a new habit.

Next week is Back to School night.  Thursday, August 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00.  There will be two sessions and Mr. Muma will also be speaking in the gym. We look forward to seeing you again.  

5/20 Weekly Update

The end of the year is quickly approaching!  Tomorrow is Field Day.  It is in the morning. Ms. Sacino said we are having an indoor Field Day. Please see the email from BFH concerning the day. Come and support your kiddos!  

The Bunk with the Beast is also tomorrow.  Please have your child shower and return back to school with their backpack and sleeping bag. They will also need a sack dinner.  All fifth graders need to be at the bus loop at 4:45 to find their group and teacher.  The buses leave promptly at 5:00 pm.  If you miss the bus, it is your responsibility to get your child to the zoo by 6:00 pm.  Kids will be wearing their green fifth-grade t-shirt on Wednesday.  Bunk with the Beast happens rain or shine also.  Look at the weather and dress appropriately.

Continuation is a week from this Thursday. We have a sign-up genius for treats after the ceremony. Thank you in advance for your help.

This is the last call for pictures for the end of the year slide show. Please send one photo of your child to kjohnson163@cherrycreekschools.org  This is also the last call to order the continuation pictures of your kids.  The order form had the details for ordering.

5/13 Weekly Update

Happy Springtime! We are finally enjoying warm sunny weather.  This Thursday is our field trip to the Aurora Water Festival. It will be in the 80's that day. Please make sure your child comes to school with sunscreen on. It would also be advisable to have a water bottle in their lunch.  Lunches need to be disposable sack lunches. Your child should also wear their green 5th-grade shirt.

Continuation photo order forms went home last week. Each student who was present on that day will receive a photo.  If you would like to order additional photos please use the form sent home.

Next Tuesday is our Bunk with the Beast field trip.  Some reminders for the day:
* Each student carries their own items so please pack sparingly.  We will be there for less than 24 hours. A backpack and a sleeping bag should be sufficient. Please pack the green fifth-grade shirt to wear on Wednesday.  *Have your student shower before returning to school.  
*Each student will also need a sack dinner for Tuesday evening, we will eat at the zoon.  
*All students will meet at the bus loop area at 4:45 pm. All buses leave at 5:00 pm from BFH. If you miss the bus, it is your responsibility to get your child to the zoo by 6:00 pm. 
*We will return by noon on Wednesday. 

All iPads will be returned Thursday, May 23rd. Each iPad also needs to be accompanied by the cord and block charger. These need to be working.  If you need to replace these they need to be Apple products.  They are $19.99 each piece to replace.

5/7 Weekly Update

This Thursday is our field trip to Fox Ridge.  Please pack a sack lunch for your fifth grader.  We will return after our usual lunchtime and will be eating in our classroom.  

The book fair is here before and after school.  It is 'buy one book and get a book for free'.  So come and check it out!

This Friday is Muffins and Moms. Please RSVP to the office if you haven't. It starts at 7:15.

Continuation is Thursday, May 30th at 8:30 am in the gym.  When the ceremony is finished your student will get their report card and their day is done.  This is your student's last day of school.  So enjoy the day and celebrate their last day of elementary school!

4/29 Weekly Update

Thank you to all who helped with Colonial Williamsburg last Friday, it was a huge success!

The New Me Presentation will be this Wednesday and Thursday morning. If you have any questions please contact your homeroom teacher.

Please make sure that all permission slips are returned as soon as possible. 

There is no school on Friday. It is a teacher workday.

Our Taste of BFHE event is this Friday, April 26th 6:00 to 8:00 pm! This is our first year to celebrate the many cultures we have at our school. We have entertainment, activities and art. So come and enjoy this free community event. Please RSVP to the link below.

If you are turning in paper copies of the Cherry Creek transportation permission slips, we will need three copies (one per field trip) of the district waiver form. 

AVID interviews are tomorrow, Tuesday April 23rd. If you haven't turned in your paperwork please bring it with you.
